Brief Description
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
The Primary function of the Data Analytics Specialist is to ensure the secure, efficient operation and continuous availability of the Credit Union’s Enterprise Data Warehouse, application specific databases, and multiple reporting environments. Works with the Manager of Business Intelligence to identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support analytic solutions for the Credit Union. This position is also responsible for leading our business reporting initiatives including proactive identification of data trends and resulting opportunities.

- Create, manage and monitor automated jobs for data ingress and transformation - ETL processes from various data sources internal and external to the credit union.
- Create and maintain scheduled reporting using SSRS, Visual Studios and Tableau.
- Create scheduled and ad hoc reports from the core financial system.
- Develop, create, and maintain data lakes and dashboards in Tableau and other similar product (PowerBI).
- Responsible for researching emerging processes, preparing recommendations for business solutions, and creating work instructions.
- Identify data trends and new opportunities for data gathering and/or enhance existing models to drive higher levels of performance throughout the organization.
- Drive user adoption of reporting tools to allow for efficient data consumption.
- Perform ad-hoc and operational reporting requests which might include off-hours support as needed for system issues.
- Cooperate with IT Department for system / network upgrades, support of data ingress and ETL processes.
- Maintain communications with critical external entities to ensure ETL processes run in time, and data is available including periodic scheduled data updates are completed.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Intelligence, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems or a similar degree plus three (3) to five (5) years BI/Computers/Information Technology, or equivalent experience.
- Microsoft SQL proficiency and certifications.
- Experience in developing reports using Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and using Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).
- Proficiency in Microsoft SQL Server T-SQL for programming stored procedures.
- Experience with implementing, maintaining, tuning, and deploying SQL and IIS based applications.
- Strong interpersonal skills, oral communication skills, and proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Understanding of relational database structures, theories, principles, and practices.
- Practical knowledge in importing data for use in spreadsheets, graphs, and flow charts.
- Strong technical knowledge of data management systems, data warehousing methodology, data quality, data modelling, data governance, analytics, and predictive modeling.
- Experience with a data visualization tool – Tableau or PowerBI
- Experience at a financial institute a plus.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
The ability to read, write, and speak in English is required. Must be able to read and interpret highly technical documents. The position requires the ability to convey technical issues and material to a non-technical audience. The ability to read and comprehend rules and regulations that pertain to the areas of responsibility of the department is required.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
The ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume is required.
REASONING ABILITY:
The ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form as well as the ability to develop solutions to problems as they arise.

Follows regulatory and policy compliance requirements, which would include those efforts in compliance with Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Regulations, and other compliance related Policies. Also, this position requires maintaining confidentiality regarding non-public information about our members and Notre Dame Federal Credit Union.
