We are actively searching for three (3) Coding Specialist candidates to join our Health Information Management team. This role is fully remote for candidates residing outside of California, New York, New Jersey, Colorado, Oregon, and Hawaii.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately assign ICD-10-CM diagnostic and procedure codes for inpatient clinical encounters, ensuring compliance with CMS Official Guidelines for coding and reporting.
- Provide intermediate clinical inpatient support through the Health Information Management department, collaborating closely with leadership to complete coding assignments across various discharge departments, including but not limited to Postpartum, Newborn, NICU, Cardiac ICU, and more.
- Lead efforts in maintaining coding accuracy and abstracting relevant data elements from documentation to facilitate proper reimbursement.
- Engage with HIM staff to clarify any ambiguous or incomplete documentation using the appropriate physician clarification process.
- Adhere to Health Information Management (HIM) coding policies and interpret American Hospital Association (AHA) Official Coding Guidelines to support appropriate diagnoses and procedures.
- Participate in performance improvement initiatives as directed and consistently meet or exceed productivity and quality standards established by department leadership.
Required Skills
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in inpatient coding, with a preference for candidates who possess experience in acute care facilities and/or Trauma Level II coding.
- Proficient knowledge of ICD-10-CM coding guidelines along with a commitment to maintaining coding certification and staying current with regulatory changes.
- Strong attention to detail, with the ability to interpret and apply coding guidelines effectively.
- Excellent communication skills to facilitate collaboration with healthcare professionals.
Qualifications
- Certification from AAPC or AHIMA is required (apprenticeship classification excluded).
- A proven track record of coding experience, particularly in specialty areas such as Recurring Wound Care, Home Health, or Interventional Radiology, is highly desirable.

Compensation And Benefits
- Base Salary: USD \(56,056 to \)78,478
- Full-time position with a comprehensive benefits package.
