Position: Associate Director, IT Project Management

Overview
We are on the lookout for a seasoned Associate Director of IT Project Management to spearhead our IT project portfolio. The successful candidate will closely collaborate with the Vice Chancellor IT CIO or their delegate to shape and implement project methodologies, standards, and governance, guaranteeing that each initiative yields tangible benefits for our organization. You will also lead and mentor a team of Enterprise IT Project Managers while overseeing the Project Management Office (PMO) within the IT department.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide operational leadership for the IT Project Management Office, ensuring the highest standards in project management practices.
- Direct and manage projects to ensure they are delivered on schedule, within budget, and in line with stakeholder expectations.
- Facilitate clear and timely communication among stakeholders, team members, and IT management.
- Inspire and manage the project team, fostering a culture of collaboration and high performance.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks effectively.
- Ensure the PMO complies with established processes and standards, making adjustments as necessary.
- Develop and implement a project prioritization framework across the organization.
- Lead larger teams and manage intricate projects, ensuring adherence to scope, quality, timeline, and budgetary requirements.
- Conduct project status reviews and post-completion evaluations to support continuous improvement.
- Coordinate project activities, evaluate proposals, and oversee schedules and budgets.
- Create comprehensive project documentation, including charters, milestones, and roles & responsibilities.
- Select project team members, oversee their assignments, and provide necessary training and mentorship.
- Formulate and execute a change management strategy to drive project success.
- Oversee and manage project budgets diligently.
- Facilitate seamless transitions of project deliverables upon completion.
- Cultivate strong collaborative relationships with faculty, staff, students, and community partners.
- Undertake additional duties as assigned.
Required Skills
- Demonstrated ability to lead and execute successful IT projects.
- Strong project management acumen, with a capacity to manage multiple projects in a cross-functional environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in building and maintaining relationships, resolving issues, and implementing best practices in project management.
- Strong analytical, planning, and organizational skills.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and a minimum of five years of experience in IT project management; or an Associate degree with seven years of relevant experience.
- Project Management Professional (PMP), Prince2, or equivalent certification preferred; or two additional years of IT project management experience.
