Communications Graduate Intern

The Consortium, an independent, nonprofit, 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization, has awarded more than $8 million dollars in grant funding to more than 50 organizations in 16 of New Jersey’s 21 counties.
The New Jersey Civic Information Consortium is seeking a dynamic self-starter to assist in communications efforts, specifically drafting online content and helping to create a strategic website user experience. This internship is an excellent opportunity to experience various aspects of marketing while working in a casual remote work environment. This position reports to the Communications and Grants Manager, with help from the Development Associate.
The internship will run for 12 weeks in the fall, from October to December. Start and end dates are flexible based on the Graduate Intern's schedule. Intern will be compensated at $25/hour for 10-12 hours/week.
Responsibilities
- Content creation: Writing, editing, and uploading text and multimedia content including press releases, grantee success stories, media advisories, social media posts, blog posts, and others
- Collaborate with staff on new ideas, directions, and tools for website user experience.
Qualifications
- Completed or working toward a graduate degree, preferably in English, Marketing/Communications, Journalism, Advertising or Public Relations
- Previous internship or related experience in marketing or communications with skills in website design, graphic design, photography, written and oral communication
- Understanding of the basic principles of public relations and/or marketing
- Computer skills including Microsoft Office, Adobe Photoshop and InDesign. Knowledge of HTML, website content management
- Genuine enthusiasm for creating compelling marketing materials to support the Consortium
- Self-starter, good time management, creative, with ability to communicate in a professional manner
- Ability to work well independently, and within a team.
