Responsibilities:
- Communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders, addressing questions and resolving discrepancies. Serve as a liaison between accounting and other departments.
- Conduct detailed analyses, reviews, and audits of assigned programs, processes, or accounting functions (such as payroll, accounts payable, and grant management). Review and analyze financial reports to identify and correct errors or unrecorded transactions. Maintain documentation and ensure timely issue resolution. Guide junior staff on problem-solving and collaborate with internal departments and external parties to resolve discrepancies.
- Coordinate and prepare for external audits. Develop audit schedules and serve as a liaison between internal customers and external auditors. Research and provide materials for audits.
- Gather and compile data from various sources to produce and maintain periodic and ad-hoc reports. Analyze reports to detect and correct errors or omissions.
- Prepare journal, payroll, and general ledger entries, ensuring all required documentation is maintained and payments are timely. Review entries by junior staff to ensure accuracy and compliance with state and federal regulations as well as departmental standards.
- Provide advanced support in accounting areas such as budget preparation, grant management, budget proposals, and resource allocation.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered, as long as they meet any necessary state or federal certification requirements.
- Minimum 3 years of functional accounting experience in areas such as grant accounting, payroll, or budgeting, depending on the role.
- At least 5 years of accounting experience, with healthcare experience strongly preferred.
