Position Overview
As an Ivy League Essay Specialist, you will be pivotal in guiding high school students in crafting compelling and authentic college essays that highlight their unique stories, accomplishments, and aspirations. Your primary focus will be helping students applying to Ivy League and other top-tier U.S. universities, ensuring their application essays stand out in a competitive admissions landscape.
Key Responsibilities
Essay Development and Review:
- Collaborate one-on-one with students to brainstorm and develop essay ideas that align with their personal narrative and college application goals.
- Assist students in drafting, refining, and editing personal statements, supplemental essays, and other written components of their applications.
- Provide constructive feedback on structure, tone, and content while maintaining each student’s authentic voice.
- Ensure all essays meet application deadlines and adhere to college-specific prompts and guidelines.
Content Strategy and Storytelling:
- Help students identify and articulate their unique strengths, experiences, and aspirations in a way that resonates with admissions committees.
- Guide students in developing a cohesive narrative across various essays and application materials.
- Tailor essay strategies for each student based on their target schools, personal background, and future goals.
Coaching and Mentorship:
- Provide personalized guidance to students throughout the essay-writing process, offering encouragement, advice, and support.
- Help students reflect on their experiences, accomplishments, and challenges to draw meaningful connections in their writing.
- Offer insights into Ivy League and top-tier admissions processes, particularly focusing on what admissions officers look for in applicants.
Collaboration with College Advisors:
- Work closely with college admissions advisors and strategy specialists to align essay content with the overall application strategy.
- Participate in internal team meetings to review student progress and ensure consistency across all elements of the application.
Research and Stay Current:
- Stay up-to-date with trends in Ivy League and top U.S. university admissions, including essay topics, application processes, and admissions expectations.
- Continuously improve understanding of what sets successful applicants apart in competitive admissions environments.
