Role Description
This is a part-time law clerk position (20-24 hours a week) at our office in Scripps Ranch. After the training period, this position has the potential to be hybrid on-site/remote. The Law Clerk will work in tandem with the attorneys receiving hands on litigation experience. Responsibilities include drafting and assisting with correspondence, pleadings, and motions, research memorandums, court filings, drafting and responding to discovery, and communicating with clients. Law Clerks will have the opportunity to attend mediations, depositions, and court hearings with the supervising attorney.
Candidates should be able to prioritize multiple duties quickly, are organized and detailed oriented, personable, driven, eager to learn, and are a team player. Basic computer skills with Word and Outlook are required. Spanish-speaking skills are a plus.
Qualifications
- Completed first year of law school. Applicants will not be considered unless they have completed at least their 1L year.
- High level of motivation with ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to multitask, successfully manage and prioritize a variety of demands daily, and take direction from support staff and attorneys
- Ability to work in a fast-paced legal environment with changing priorities
- Ability to work under pressure
- Strong legal writing and research skills
- Strong timekeeping and time tracking skills
- Extremely detail-oriented and able to prioritize tasks
- Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Proficiency in MS Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Legal Document Preparation and knowledge
- Spanish fluency is a plus
