Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Design System Designer to lead the evolution of our client's multi-brand visual language. In this role, you will establish and document design standards to ensure consistency and scalability across both mobile and web platforms. You will serve as a key liaison between the design and engineering teams, ensuring seamless communication and smooth handoffs. Hourly range: $60 - $65/hr, paid weekly, benefits eligible.

Duration estimated: 6 months.

Experience with a hospitality brand or travel brand is preferred.

Design System Designer Duties:

Lead the development and documentation of design standards for our multi-brand visual language across mobile and web platforms.
Collaborate closely with design and engineering teams to ensure seamless communication and efficient handoffs.
Maintain and evolve the design system, ensuring it is scalable and aligned with business objectives.
Apply user-centered design principles to create consistent, high-quality user experiences.
Utilize design thinking and agile methodologies to drive design projects from concept to implementation.
Ensure the design system adheres to accessibility standards (WCAG) and is responsive across different platforms.
Incorporate data visualization and information architecture into the design system.
Stay up to date with industry trends and advances in interface design and usability principles.

Design System Designer Requirements:

Must have 5+ years of UX design experience, with at least 2 years focused on design systems specifically for desktop and mobile.
Must have a strong portfolio showcasing experience in creating and maintaining design systems with major brands.
Experience working in an Agile environment and with design ops for scaling design processes.
Knowledge of design systems like Material Design, Apple Human Interface Guidelines, and Carbon Design System.
Expert-level proficiency in Figma.
Familiarity with design token systems and their implementation.
Understanding of accessibility standards (WCAG) and their application in design systems.
Deep knowledge of responsive design approaches and frontend development technologies.
Bachelor’s degree in HCI, Visual Communication, Digital Design, Product Design, Human-Centered Design, or a related field is required.
