Primary Purpose
Supports all phases of environmental, health and safety (EH&S) audits and other projects. Provides internal customers with high quality value-added audit and consulting services across all Sempra operating companies. Support audits with data analytics, planning, fieldwork, and reporting phases.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Partners with clients to plan audit objectives and scope of assigned audits, as directed by Manager, Project Manager, or Principal Auditor. Assesses risk, develops audit test procedures, and conducts audit testing.
- Performs data analytics and documents audit results ensuring that conclusions, findings, and recommendations are properly supported. Drafts audit findings, documents remediation testing follow-up and communicates audit results to management.
- Performs risks assessments and recommends changes to improve operations or strengthen business controls. Negotiates solutions or corrective actions.
- Helps attain the department's annual performance goals, which include completing a specified number of company audits in a timely basis and within budget. Represents the department as a business partner that adds value and is willing to assist with all Sempra activities.
- Assists with special audit projects and department initiatives as assigned.
- Performs other duties as assigned (no more than 5% of duties).
Qualifications
Education
- A bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, Environmental Sciences, Occupation Health and Safety, other related degree and/or equivalent experience is required.
- An advanced degree in a relevant field is preferred.
Experience
- 3+ years of prior public accounting audit/consulting, internal audit of Environmental, Health and Safety, Financial, and/or Operational experience is required.
- 2+ years of experience in technical hands-on experience extracting data and analyzing electronic data from enterprise systems, knowledge of SQL, SAP, Power BI, Python.
- Developed audit programs and delivered data driven audits, self-assessment and/or inspections is preferred.
- Must reside in Southern California or be willing to relocate upon hire.
- We offer a hybrid work environment. Although the schedule may vary, typically this will allow you to work from the office three days per week and work remotely on the remaining workdays.

- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to perform data analytics to improve audit techniques and procedures.
The Following Skills And Abilities Are Preferred
- Understanding of the audit methodology and phases, and how to apply the methodology.
- Ability to articulate how in scope business processes, people, and technology supports the overall business objectives, and how to associate risk and controls to the scope.
- Knowledge of enterprise systems (e.g., SAP) and data analytics application to extract data and perform statistical analysis, identify trends, outliers and anomalies in data sets.
Licenses and Certifications
- Valid California Driver's License is required.
- Certified Public Accountant, Certified Internal Auditor, Data Analytics Certification, Certified Safety Professional,
Other Qualifications
or other relevant certification is preferred.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally - may be required to travel up to 20%.
- Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.
