If you have seen my job descriptions before, you will know that I like to add some humor to these things. So, no bots, no AI, just a real live person writing an actual JD.... As with every role I work on, social fit is almost always as important as the hard skills fit. So, what are some of those soft skill fit characteristics?...well, I am glad you asked. Here are some of those characteristics:
- This is a team that is highly collaborative. They have fun...but are purposeful. So, if you are the kind of individual who just stands around the water cooler without doing any actual work, then we won't have a fit. However, if you are the person that can truly be that player/coach, that not just prospects and drives business but can also help the team do the same, then we are on the right track.
- This is an organization that can deal with bad news.... The key is 'radical transparency'. Don't hide bad news...it's best to share it as soon as you have it. Every sales professional has had times where things didn't go well...just be honest about it.
- This is not an organization with a ton of drama. So, if you believe the entire world revolves around everything you say, you might want to look elsewhere.
Here is what we are seeking for this role from a hard skills standpoint.
This role is being done remotely. It would be ideal if you were located in Ohio, Kentucky, New York or New Jersey. I can only work with candidates that already reside in the US.
We are seeking a seasoned sales executive with experience in selling staff augmentation and project based solutions focused on the tech space. So, if you have sold Cyber Security, Business Intelligence, AI, App Dev, Mobile App Dev, DevOps or Process Optimization solution sets in your background, that would be right up the alleyway of what we are seeking. This role is a hybrid of player / coach. So, we will need you to consistently prospect, build busienss and maintain current relationships with hiring managers. From a 'coaching' standpoint, you will be responsible for a team of 7 (that team includes a mix of account managers and recruiters). As most individuals reading this JD that are already in sales leadership roles, the ability to forecast and be - as you might have guessed - accurate in those forecasts is paramount to success.
We are seeking that mix of true sales leadership in this role. In other words, that ability to truly lead a team by example, understanding prospecting, understanding that ever-important installation of a sense of urgency, and showing that persistence will conquer just about anything are vital to success in this role.
Here is what we are seeking in this role:
- A solid 10 years or more of selling software solutions and projects. This experience should include sales of Cyber Security, Business Intelligence, AI, App Dev, Mobile App Dev, DevOps or Process Optimization solution sets etc solutions in the tech space.
- An ideal candidate for this role would come from, perhaps, an MSP that sold IT Staff Augmentation services to companies across the US.
- We are going to need to see at least some staff augmentation (of IT personnel) sales experience.
- Staff evaluation experience. This should include understanding the skills and potential of current staff members as well as detailing where improvement is needed.
- Coaching experience. This should include a solid breakdown of 30/60/90 day deliverables of team members with clearly defined expectations.
- Solid reporting experience. This should include realistic estimates in terms of closure rates, pipeline definition and revenue targets.
