Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Legal Assistant to join our family law firm. This remote position is ideal for a professional located in the Bay Area. The successful candidate will support our firm with a variety of tasks, ensuring efficient legal operations. Previous Legal Assistants at our firm held this position before attending law school or before transitioning to federal positions, gaining valuable experience in the legal field.

Key Responsibilities:

Calendar Management: Manage calendars, schedule appointments, and coordinate meetings for attorneys.
Correspondence: Prepare correspondence and communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel.
Document Preparation: Assist attorneys in preparing legal documents, such as briefs, pleadings, and agreements.
Research: Conduct legal research and gather relevant information for cases.
File Management: Organize and maintain legal files and documents.
Trial Preparation: Assist in trial preparation, including communicating with opposing counsel, opposing parties, courts, and organizing legal documents.
Data Entry: Perform data entry tasks and maintain accurate records of case information.
Billing: Record hours, expenses, and prepare client bills each month.

Required Experience:

Legal Assistant Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Legal Assistant or in a similar role.
Education: An associate degree is required, but a bachelor’s degree is preferred.
Project Management: Strong project management skills to handle multiple tasks and prioritize deadlines.
Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational skills to maintain and update legal files efficiently.
Legal Knowledge: Knowledge of legal terminology and procedures.
Certification: Paralegal certification is a plus but not required.
