Systems Engineer
Job Purpose
The position is primarily responsible for supporting the user community through the implementation, maintenance and upkeep of the servers/services/applications they use. The System Engineer reports to the IT Manager and works closely with IT staff, management and end users. The successful person brings a can do attitude and positive energy every day and is prepared to communicate with all levels of employees.
Responsibilities and Tasks
- Manage users in Azure and Office 365/Microsoft Online environment
- Maintain Hybrid Microsoft Exchange and Teams environments
- Work with other individuals on the Wintel team to share knowledge and workload
- Handle Tier 3 and escalated help desk tickets remotely or by phone
- Manage and own assigned technical projects from kick-off through closure
- Ownership of assigned tasks and requests to ensure timely resolution
- Create machine/server accounts and place them appropriately in AD
- Apply updates and agents to the server environment as needed to remediate vulnerabilities or keep systems current
- Create GPOs to push software or permissions to sites
- Work with remote technicians and delegated admins to ensure business continuity
- Manage and monitor server health and remediate issues before they become problems
- Keep documentation of policy and procedures current, as well as build the library as new practices are used
- Work with purchased application users and vendors for support and problem resolution
- Other duties may be added and/or assigned as needed

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information Systems preferred
- 7+ years in an IT support and troubleshooting
- Strong Active Directory understanding and ability to apply this knowledge in a multi-domain and multi-forest environment
- A thorough understanding of Microsoft Server versions, Windows versions, including ability to build and deploy and ability to learn new versions as released
- Microsoft Office application support, including Exchange and Skype for Business/Teams
- Network experience including WINS, DNS, DHCP and TCP/IP
- Excellent troubleshooting and documentation skills
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
- Self-directed with the ability to work independently and with a team
