We are looking for a highly motivated Project Manager, who is passionate about the construction process, to join our Kansas City team.
Job Responsibilities:
The responsibilities of the project manager position include but are not limited to the following:
- Review construction plans and specifications to create custom door and hardware submittal packages for commercial construction projects.
- This entails a current and thorough knowledge of door and hardware product applications in addition to current knowledge of commercial building codes and requirements.
- Comprehensive management of assigned projects including take-offs, detailing, submittal creation, cost management, material sourcing, daily monitoring, and timeline oversight.
- Proactively communicate with customers and key internal departments to ensure all projects are delivered on-time, within scope, and within budget.
- Research and determine solutions to problems regarding incorrect materials, warranty work, shortages, timeline limitations, installation errors and more.
- Manage contract obligations for assigned projects including requested reporting and billing oversight.
- Collaborate with contractors, engineers, architects, and key members of the project team.
- Develop procedures for the management of projects and determine more efficient methods of operation to decrease costs and increase profitability.
- Assess performance metrics at the completion of a project to identify areas for improvement and elements that worked well for future projects.
An ideal Project Manager candidate possesses the following:
Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills are a must. A Project Manager is often the first and sometimes only point of contact with our customers. It is critical that this individual communicate project questions and details in a timely and accurate manner to ensure projects are completed on-budget and on-time. This role also requires communication with all internal departments to ensure clear project coordination. This person must proactively and professionally be able to work across departments and with outside partners (vendors, subs, etc.)
Extreme Attention to Detail: Accurately bidding and managing a project requires the utmost attention to details and specifications. This position also requires one to accurately document and communicate these details to outside and inside partners.
Proactive Problem-Solving: Commercial construction is often fluid and requires an individual to think on their feet as changes are made to specifications or timelines. The Estimator position must understand the impact of project changes, solve for issues and communicate updates to customers, vendors and co-workers in a timely and effective manner.
Ability to multi-task and prioritize work autonomously: must be able to manage multiple priorities in a deadline constrained environment.
Basic Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent as minimum – Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- Minimum of 2-5 years of project management experience in the commercial construction industry
- Experience in Division 8 required (Doors, frames and hardware)
- Proficient computer skills required.
Software: Microsoft Office Suite (Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel)
Detailing Software (ProTech, EPWS or similar)
Bluebeam
ERP software (cERP, NetSuite, Acumatica, or similar)
