Summary
Under the direction of the Policy Services Manager, the Policy Services Data Entry Specialist/Word Processor is primarily responsible for entering existing customer-provided data into an electronic format, updating existing entries, and organizing documents related to personal and commercial insurance policies.
Essential Functions
- Prepare, compile, and sort documents
- Transcribe source data into the required electronic format
- Transfer information from paper formats into computer files
- Perform high-volume data entry using word processing, spreadsheet, database, or other computer software
- Request audits for Commercial Lines Underwriting
- Review data for errors, missing pages, or missing information and resolve any discrepancies
- Respond to requests to retrieve data from the database or electronic filing system
- Input all entries with a high degree of accuracy and proficiency
- Use word processing, spreadsheet, database or other computer software
- Use scanners, electronically transmitted files, or other forms of character recognition systems
- Works with management and product director to identify opportunities of improvements to processes and systems
- Complete additional assigned tasks as required
Job Requirements, Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
- 3+ years of data entry experience is preferred
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills with particular attention to detail
- Exceptional organizational skills
- Excellent time management skills
- Ability to type 40 WPM
- Strong computer aptitude which includes expertise with Microsoft Office ( Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Adept at working with PDF files
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Works effectively with scheduled deadlines
- Able to work independently with little supervision, but also able to work collaboratively with a team
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality when dealing with private company and insured data
- Knowledge of Property and Casualty Insurance is desired
