The Senior Manager is responsible for the preparation of the Company’s GAAP financial statements as well as various other internal and external reporting, the related control processes and the administration of the external audit. The Senior Manager will lead a team consisting of a Financial Reporting Senior and will coordinate the financial reporting efforts of the accounting organization, to the extent necessary to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
Together with the Corporate Controller, the Senior Manager will lead the Company’s global accounting function, establishing/maintaining necessary policies and addressing technical accounting matters. The Senior Manager will write the financial statements and various financial presentations and reports as well as write policies and research, analyze, and document the appropriate accounting treatment for complex financial transactions. As needed, the Senior Manager will lead the implementation of new accounting standards.
Suitable candidates will have financial reporting project management experience and will bring best practices for financial reporting. This role requires critical thinking, strong time and project management skills, the ability to translate accounting into layman’s terms, and the ability to work cross functionally.
Primary Responsibilities
- Prepare and review financial statements and related documents, ensuring completeness and accuracy according to GAAP and Company requirements.
- Identify and implement efficiencies within the financial reporting process.
- Evaluate, develop, propose, and implement accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance with GAAP principles and ensure policies remain relevant with evolving business activities.
- Act as a subject matter expert, partnering with the business and others in the Accounting/Finance organization to identify, research, resolve and document complex, technical accounting issues and transactions.
- Consultation resource for technical accounting issues and complex business transactions, maintaining a repository for technical accounting matters.
- Prepare accounting memos providing documentation of the Company’s application of accounting principles to specific transactions.
- Coordinate and effectively communicate accounting issues with various Business Units.
- Assist with preparing the quarterly and annual financial reports and committee presentations.
- Perform key controls related to the financial reporting processes.
- Assist and support in internal and external audits of the Company.
Qualifications:
- “Big 4” experience and CPA
- 5 or more years of directly applicable financial reporting experience.
- Familiarity with U.S. GAAP
- Ability to work under tight deadlines in team environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- High degree of attention to detail
- Strong cross-functional abilities with multi-faceted analysis and ad-hoc analysis skills
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skill
- Systems Qualifications
- Proficiency in Workiva Wdesk
- High level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
- Familiarity with HFM, commensurate with a financial reporting role.
- Oracle G/L or other G/L experience a plus.
