Role overview:
The COO will play a pivotal role in the strategic planning and execution of the company's operations.
This individual will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations, optimizing internal processes and ensuring that our business strategy is effectively implemented.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in operations management, a keen understanding of the technology sector and experience in high-growth start-up environments.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational strategy & Execution:
- Develop and implement operational strategies that align with the company's goals and objectives.
- Oversee daily operations and ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of processes.
- Collaborate with the CEO and executive team to drive the company’s strategic direction.
Process optimization & Innovation:
- Identify areas for process improvement and lead initiatives to enhance operational efficiency.
- Implement scalable systems and processes to support rapid growth.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
Team leadership & Development:
- Build, lead and mentor a high-performing operations team.
- Establish clear goals and performance metrics for team members.
- Promote a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
Financial management:
- Work with the CFO to manage budgets, forecasts and financial planning.
- Monitor operational performance against budget and identify areas for cost savings.
- Ensure compliance with financial policies and regulations.
- Participate in fundraising efforts, including Seed and subsequent funding rounds.
Risk management:
- Develop and implement risk management strategies to mitigate operational risks.
- Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory and industry standards.
- Establish and maintain robust safety and security protocols.
Stakeholder management:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including investors, partners and customers.
- Represent the company at industry events and conferences.
- Provide regular updates to the board and investors on operational performance and milestones.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, or related field. MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in operations management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within a technology start-up.
- Industry knowledge: Deep understanding of the technology and rental sectors.
- Leadership: Proven ability to lead and inspire teams in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
- Strategic thinking: Strong strategic and analytical thinking skills.
- Financial acumen: Solid understanding of financial management and budgetary processes.
- Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Problem-solving: Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Tech-savvy: Proficient in using technology to drive operational efficiencies.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
- Fundraising: Measure the amount of capital to be secured from investors against predefined targets and milestones and support the team in securing the funding from different sources.
- Investor pipeline development: Track the number of potential investors identified, engaged, and converted into active prospects for funding rounds.
- Pitch deck: Collaborate and evaluate the effectiveness of pitch presentations to securing investor interest and commitment, measured by the percentage of successful pitches.
- Financial planning: Support in drafting the Financial Plan, ensuring the accuracy of the relative data and forecasts.
- Due diligence timelines: Monitor the efficiency of due diligence processes by tracking the time taken to complete investor due diligence requirements.
- Team development and performance: Evaluate the effectiveness of team recruitment, training, and performance management processes in building a high-performing and cohesive organization.
