Our client, a well established construction and real estate development company with over 65 years of experience, is seeking an Assistant Construction Project Manager to join their team in Vancouver, British Columbia.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement assigned projects, monitoring overall performance, including schedule, budget, quality, and safety.
- Review project drawings, specifications, and reports for coordination between disciplines.
- Develop complete estimates on selected projects, including site visits, quantity take-offs, pricing, and presentations for management review.
- Contact trades and suppliers regarding tender invitations, pricing, addenda, and prepare detailed tender/bid analyses for each scope of work.
- Perform project setups, distribute project documents, and manage project contracts using the Procore system.
- Monitor expenditures effectively, review invoices in detail, and manage labor and material costs according to the project budget.
- Prepare and participate in the creation and updating of project budgets using historical unit rates and trade inputs.
- Prepare weekly and monthly project reports to update stakeholders on project status.
- Coordinate the procurement process, draft and prepare contracts, and track changes to contractual agreements.
- Perform general and administrative duties as required by the construction team.
- Liaise with the project team, clients, consultants, and trade contractors/sub-contractors.
- Undertake other priority duties as directed by the Director of Construction.
Ideal Candidate Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive construction experience as a project coordinator, senior project coordinator, or junior project manager with a general contractor or builder-developer in British Columbia.
- Post-secondary education (University Degree or Technology Diploma) in Construction Management, Building Engineering, or Civil Engineering.
- Familiarity with commercial, multi-family residential, and industrial construction.
- Excellent knowledge of the Lower Mainland and BC construction industry, including the BC Building Code.
- Proficient in Procore and strong technical skills in MS Project, MS Office (Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint), and Excel.
- Strong local references.
